Another Horse Decorative Feature

This one is very different from the horse decoration shown on Sept. 25th, flat, graphic, ornate.

"Before I die I want to___________"

Another fabulous use of an under-used commercial storefront by Artists in Storefronts (on Stevens & 26th Street.)

A-I-S "purchased a "Before I Die" toolkit from public artist Candy Chang's Civic Center then built and erected it with funds from the Whittier Alliance for our "Whittier Artists in Storefronts" project."

Cepro Site Greenspace on the Greenway

Still looks like summer.  Not very many trails are in a trench like the Midtown Greenway.

"Yes to All Loving Couples"

The 3 churches sharing the church formerly known only as Salem English Lutheran at  610 W. 28th Street (between Lyndale and Garfield Avenues) urge "Vote No on the Marriage Amendment."

Meander Here

I am fascinated by the myriad ways that people landscape their yards.  I frequently go on garden tours to see special landscaping, but this one, and many others, I see when I'm running, biking, or walking in the neighborhood.  This yard is north of the Cepro Site greenspace on the Greenway, between 10th and 11th Aves.

"Nolite te bastardes..."

Tattoo seen on Lyndale & 22nd Ave. S.
"Nolite te bastardes cardonrundorum" is made-up Latin for "Don't let the bastards get you down." (The bearer chose it from the novel The Handmaid's Tale, by Margaret Atwood.)

"Vote No"

On November 6, 2012, Minnesotans will vote,
“Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to provide that only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as marriage in Minnesota?”

Quack!

Amusing, charming, personal.  I expect it to move at any moment.

WUNDR BIRD

I love the street art of this artist, Eleventh Wonder, or Wundr, here perched on a mailbox on 25th St. and Pillsbury Ave. S.
He says, "His artwork is often a reminisce of childhood, with a thirst for adventure, and an abstraction of our environment. The characters in Wundr's art are not a specific representation of any individual, but are molded from pieces of all of us, mental snapshots from society, from child hood associations, abstractions of feelings and emotions, self reflections, inspired by the people that we see, and meet, every day."
You can read more about him at his site:

Container Garden

You don't need a yard to have attractive plants.  These potted plants almost look like they are floating.

Labor Day

Happy Labor Day!
I figure this applies to Black-Eyed Susans as well as lilies:
"...They do not labor neither do they weave, but I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory was robed like one of these..." (Luke 12.27)

What season?

Passersby say it's summer. Eat Street Social windowboxes say it's autumn.
