This is Johg Yueh Hwang, owner of Evergreen Chinese (Taiwanese) Restaurant on Nicollet just south of McDonald's at 24th. I love their fried tofu, and the tied seaweed was enjoyed by an adventuresome friend of mine.

Note to Self: Always Carry a Pen
Got talking with this guy on Franklin Ave. E, around 13th St. I didn't have a pen on me to jot down his name, and by the time I got home several hours later, I'd forgotten. Owen? ...Lamar? ...something with two syllables. Sorry, man!

Stonehenge in Whittier?
No, it's the Whittier Clinic stormwater management landscaping--it receives rain water from the parking lot and includes native plants around the stones. Watch'em bloom throughout the summer. The Clinic resides between Nicollet, Blaisdell, and 28th and 29th Streets.
Tryg Hansen is the landscape designer for the Whittier Clinic site.

It was 37 years ago today Robert M Pirsig taught us all to play
The wonderful book Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance was published this week in 1974. Some of it was written above Roberts Shoes, on Chicago and Lake. I wonder if it was snowing on that day back then.

From here, downtown looks like Oz to me.

Bikers in Mourning
Tom and Jeff at Bob's Java Hut after Don Stapf's memorial service at Lakewood Cemetery. Don was a longtime regular at the coffee shop. You have seen Don's handiwork if you've noticed the scaffolding of the glass fish in the Walker Art Museum's greenhouse.

Lithe Shadows
Photo: Esther Perry
What a dilemma. I took a few shots with the flash which looked better but didn't show the fabulous shadows. The shadows are what inspired me to take the shot in the first place, so there you have them.

This is a currently unnamed gorgeous Beta in his beautiful, cut glass ARC bowl.
Remember to donate and shop at ARC and other second hand stores to help raise funds for those in need - and score a wonderful glass bowl...
