A Sign Of The Times?

The Church of St. Stephen (or St. Stephen's Church, as it is also known) was built between 1889-1891.    It's a beautiful building.  I wonder what prompted its placement, or why people would be sitting on the steps.  The St. Stephen's parish was admonished by the Archbishop a few years ago for it's 'liberal' ways--adapting the approved litergy (such as including an environmental poem), allowing the laity, such as a "female minister" to have a stronger role in the mass.

The 3 churches sharing the church formerly known only as Salem English Lutheran at  610 W. 28th Street (between Lyndale and Garfield Avenues) urge "Vote No on the Marriage Amendment."

Norske Lutherske Mindekirken

I asked a guy passing by if this is still a working church. He replied, "I don't know. I go to a mosque."

Indeed, the Norwegian Lutheran Memorial Church, at  924 E. 21st Street (Philips) is still a working church (since 1922). Its web site says, "Mindekirken has ... a reputation for its music programs, including The Leiv Eriksson Festival, which features Norwegian artists working in a variety of media, particularly music. (Each October)" 

So, come back in October!
