Still looks like summer.  Not very many trails are in a trench like the Midtown Greenway.

I am fascinated by the myriad ways that people landscape their yards.  I frequently go on garden tours to see special landscaping, but this one, and many others, I see when I'm running, biking, or walking in the neighborhood.  This yard is north of the Cepro Site greenspace on the Greenway, between 10th and 11th Aves.

Uncle Edgar's

Northern Spark On The Greenway

Hundreds participated in the Northern Spark all-night art festival and Greenway Glow fundraising ride on the Midtown Greenway.  Fifteen art-music-performances occurred on the Greenway while the lit bicyclists and Northern Spark participants watched, rode the Greenway and had an all-around good time.  Musicians pictured in this photo-collage are, left-center, Jack Brass Band and center, Dorothy Doring and her band up on the Midtown Sheraton plaza overlooking the Greenway.

In 2013, the Northern Spark event will occur on Sat. June 8-Sun. June 9.

Welcome To Waite House Gardens

The Waite House is at 26th St. and 13th Ave., with  the garden is south of the House on the corner.  The Waite House provides community services in the Midtown Phillips neighborhood.

Inside the Midtown Greenway Coalition

Soren Jensen, Executive Director, and Rebecca Spurr, Lutheran Volunteer Corps Administrative & Outreach Coordinator, take a break from their work at the office of the Midtown Greenway Coaltion, right down on the Greenway next to the Freewheel Bike Center, and across from the Midtown Global Market.

Mugwech--Welcome

Shirley Heyer enjoying the new swings and recreational space at the Cepro entry to the Midtown Greenway, between 10th and 11th avenues.  The structures holding the swings bear the word "welcome" in six languages: English, Braille, Dakota, Ojibwe, Spanish, and Somali.  This is phase one of the project which covers the east side of the block.

Come Oct. 6 at 5:30 pm for an open house celebrating the built section, and try out a swing.

Franklin Laundromat

I've never seen a laudromat with pipes sticking out of the roof.  Anyone know exactly what they are for?  The laundromat is at 903 E. Franklin Ave.
