Culture Clash (The American Swedish Institute)

 

Construction workers seem like time travelers in the 1908 mansion that hosts the American Swedish Institute.

American Swedish Institute Renovation

A new Nelson Cultura Center is being constructed next to the familiar, lovely Turnblad Mansion that we now know as the American Swedish Institute at 2600 Park Ave.  This fun construction mural informs us that the cultural center will be a LEED Gold certified building, using recycled materials, heated with geothermal, and landscaped to conserve water.
