Keeping Cool

There are so many ways to landscape a yard; it is fun to observe and photograph them, and especially, talk to the gardener (thought I didn't for this one).

Art In The Park

The Art Institute is experimenting with Art In The Park--in this case, painting benches.  This is another kind of rainbow (the front of the MIA is lit up with rainbow colors at night).

Disposable Cars

There are a bunch of these, apparently from a demolition event (I hope!).  Colorful, but sad.

Banded Pennant Dragonfly

I was working in my yard and saw this beautiful dragonfly resting on my fence post.
Quoted from Wikepedia:
"The Banded Pennant (Celithemis fasciata) is a dragonfly found in North America, in the Pennant genus of dragonflies. The extensive, sharply defined black markings on its wings are distinctive, though the pattern varies considerably; individuals from the northern part of its range tend to have less wing coloration."

Uncle Edgar's

Uncle Edgar's used to be located on 4th Ave. just north of Franklin Ave. and west of 35W.  Now it's on Chicago near Lake St.  See inside in earlier PhillipWhittier365 photo by F. Davis DiPiazza, Feb. 12, 2011.  Or even better, go inside yourself.

I was intrigued, as I often am, by a pattern, in this case, the antenna, roof angle and siding.
